Dream is a way that can encourage people to do a better job. Dreams come from ourselves. I came here three year ago. My dream for now is to transfer to a good university. There are many people who immigrated to California. All the California dreams were started from the gold rush. In that period, many people came here to take gold. After that period California has become a dream place for most people. People immigrate to California for variety reasons. Although there are many promises of California dreams to people, sunshine and beaches, opportunity and success, the problem of high expectation must be noticed. In the poem “Sinaloa Cowboys,” there is one brothers, came from Sinaloa, one of the 31 states of Mexico, immigrated to California. They came California when they were young. Many people immigrate to California in the younger age because most parents think that California provides better education. They found work in San Joaquin and doing the work the hueros would’t do. The image of the California dream often come from TV, magazine, and newspaper, etc. The media often just show the positive side of the California but ignore the reality of the California life. Emigration to California is hard now. Foreign need to word hard or more dangerous work in order to immigrate here. The father says, “The north gives it exacts a price in return.” warning his sons that the economic attractions of the North come at a dear price, to get one thing, we often lose something. They move California and left their parents when they were young so they lose the time to play and stay in the hometown with their parents. They start making drugs because they found that it can make more money in the less time. But in order to earn more money, they also have to pay higher risk that slopped the hydriodic acid could burn right through your skin. People came here in the high expectation of the dream, but it often fail making people disappointment. In the story, Miguel’s brother dies because of the explosion of the making drug. By the end of a short saga, the father’s warning has come true in an ending of tragedy. Miguel Rosales took his brother north and exchanged him for ten thousand dollars. To earn something we often have to lose something.
